Is This Right for You?

Common reasons patients come to us

You may be a good fit if you have gained weight during perimenopause or menopause without changing your habits, if you have insulin resistance or prediabetes, or if you tried a GLP-1 through an app or med spa and stalled, had side effects, or regained the weight.

This is not a prescription-only service. Medication is one tool inside a complete medical plan, with a physician monitoring your labs, your muscle, and how you feel.

How We Evaluate Your Metabolism

A full picture before any prescription

Care begins with a 60-minute consultation with Dr. Roehnelt. She reviews your history, medications, and past labs, then orders any testing you need. This may include thyroid function, fasting insulin and glucose, A1c, and cholesterol.

An InBody scan measures your muscle, body fat, and visceral fat. This gives us a starting point, so we can see what you are losing as the scale changes.

GLP-1 Medications and Other Options

Matched to your health, not a one-size plan

GLP-1 medications lower appetite and improve blood sugar control. Semaglutide (Wegovy) and tirzepatide (Zepbound) are FDA-approved for chronic weight management. Ozempic and Mounjaro contain the same ingredients and are approved for type 2 diabetes. In a head-to-head trial, people taking tirzepatide lost an average of 20.2% of their body weight over 72 weeks, compared with 13.7% for semaglutide.

There are now pill options as well. The Wegovy pill (oral semaglutide) was approved for weight management in December 2025, and Foundayo (orforglipron) was approved in April 2026. Foundayo is taken once a day, at any time, with or without food. In its main trial, people on the highest dose lost an average of 12.4% of their body weight over 72 weeks. Pills avoid injections, but in separate trials the average weight loss was lower than with injectable tirzepatide. The right choice depends on your goals, your health history, and what you will take consistently.

Not everyone needs or wants medication. Your plan may also include nutrition, strength training, sleep, and treatment of thyroid or hormone problems. Dr. Roehnelt reviews the benefits, the side effects, and who should not take these medications.

Protecting Muscle While You Lose Weight

The scale does not tell the whole story

Fast weight loss can take muscle along with fat. We repeat your InBody scan over time, set protein and strength-training goals, and adjust your dose so the weight you lose is mostly fat.

We also plan for the long term, including how to maintain your results and what to expect if you stop medication.

Common Questions

Short answers to what patients ask most

Do you prescribe GLP-1 medications? Yes, when they are medically appropriate after a full evaluation.

Are there pill options instead of injections? Yes. The Wegovy pill and Foundayo are both FDA-approved oral GLP-1 medications. Dr. Roehnelt will review whether a pill or an injection is the better fit for you.

I tried a GLP-1 and it did not work. Can you help? Often, yes. Dose, side effects, muscle loss, and untreated hormone or metabolic problems are common reasons for a stall, and each can be addressed.

Will insurance cover my medication? EndoHealth MD does not bill insurance for visits. Your prescription may still be covered by your plan, and we help with prior authorizations.

Can I do this by telehealth? Yes. Dr. Roehnelt sees patients virtually in New Jersey, New York, and Florida
